Working with clients who wish to lose 100 pounds or more.

Greetings.
Once again, my friends, Mark David here, founder
of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating.
Let us have a conversation
about the larger weight loss client.
You know, a lot of the case studies that we looked at were
in the 50 pound and less range.
And more and more these days, there are people looking
to lose more and more weight.
So I think it is useful to say a few words about
what some of the differences might be, some
of the distinctions, what to look out for,
what might be similar.
And when I say larger weight loss client,
I'm gonna say somebody who wishes to lose about about
a hundred pounds or more.
So I'm just making an arbitrary distinction
and arbitrary definition here.
On one level, this can be a difficult kind of client to work
with, and we're gonna do a few case studies
and you'll, you'll see what that means.
This can also be an unpredictable kind
of client to work with.
At the same time, this can be an extremely rewarding
client to work with.
And as always, with a weight loss client, we need
to be willing as practitioners to play a nice long game
because the larger the weight loss, honestly,
the longer the amount of time
you will likely need with that client.
Now, by the way, just about everything I just said, um,
applies to somebody who's even trying to lose 25 pounds.
They can be difficult to work with,
they could be unpredictable,
and they could be extremely rewarding.
So we're dealing with a larger weight loss.
So there's, on one level,
it seems like there's more to do.
Time here is certainly a factor,
and there's other factors as well.
You'll see as we unwind this here,
lemme tell you why this is a rewarding
client in my experience.
First of all, they have a real
and honest need around weight.
So for somebody who has a hundred pounds or more to lose, you know that they have some weight to lose. They're often an easy to work with client in the sense that
once they are ready to go with you, they want help. And they tend to be very willing and very open, um, to what you have to say. To me, it's a rewarding client because when you as a practitioner have a win here as a professional, it's just very satisfying, plain and simple. You know, it's satisfying to help somebody lose 25 pounds. In a strange, odd, weird way, it's even more satisfying to help somebody lose 125 pounds. I I think you can see why, you know, the larger weight loss client generally has a long history of dieting, and thus there's a lot of data. You have some ideas of what works and what doesn't. This is not always the case, but it is often the case.
Honestly, I believe a larger weight loss client is a big challenge. And to me, big challenges are good. They challenge us as professionals. They challenge the person who is looking to make a big change.
So in this regard, you can truly help somebody transform their body, their health, and their life when you help them with a large weight loss, you know, a hundred pounds or more. Um, that's, that's a big shape shift for a human body. And for some people, once they get to a significant weight loss and they get there in a sustainable way, it's, it can be quite life changing.
Some of the challenges, my friends, for the larger weight loss client, and number one is inertia. Now, when I say inertia, there's usually two kinds of inertia that I can notice in my larger weight loss client inertia. Number one, meaning they obviously haven't gotten there for a while. Um, they haven't been able to get where they want to go, and chances are they've tried a lot and there's sometimes just a personal, um, it's, it's, it's just hard to get going. It really is hard to get going once you have a lot of weight to lose for a lot of people. There's another thing that happens, which is a strange and interesting metabolic inertia that can happen. So when I say metabolic inertia, the body itself can become a little resistant to weight loss. In fact, much of the research on the very obese client slash patient, much of the research points to certain metabolic changes that actually happen that make it difficult to lose weight. I'm not gonna go into those details. You can google them yourself. You can learn about that yourself. That's specialized information. And I'm going to say that
I believe that is true, that once you reach a certain point, indeed there are changes in the brain, changes in the body that can make it difficult to have a large weight loss. But with that being said, it is a hundred percent and completely possible.
Oftentimes, a larger weight loss client, they have a history obviously of unsuccess, therefore, it is easier for them to feel like a weight loss failure. High weight loss clients, high weight clients often feel like they're the biggest outsiders. They would love to be able to just need to lose 25 pounds or 40 pounds. Um, so oftentimes they see themselves as a group unto themselves. Medical concerns here are very real and often likely chances are, if there's a lot of excess weight on the body, there's medical issues that are being dealt with.
I also noticed that the larger weight loss client can have some interesting plateaus that you cannot predict whatsoever.
I also wanna say that a very large body has its own personality and agenda. That's another way of saying that there's interesting plateaus that cannot be predicted. It's just a different experience.
And big weight losses aren't always as easy as we imagine it ought to be.
It just isn't. Oh wow, you have a lot of weight to lose. Let's just stop eating food or eat less food or do more exercise. Exercise is often times not an option for this group whatsoever. There's not a lot. A person trying to lose 150 or 200 pounds can often do. There could be a lot of knee pain and there could be joint issues, which will stop them from doing anything on their legs in terms of exercise. So the pounds don't just easily melt off, otherwise they would have.
So on one level, it's about weight loss, yet it isn't. And this is for any weight loss client, my friend. So as practitioners, we are here to learn to embrace the paradox that yes, you're here to help your client lose weight and you're here to help them lose weight by seeing beyond weight loss as the goal and understanding that extra weight is always a symptom and it's always a teacher. And the weight itself is not necessarily the original problem. In fact, it generally is not.
I mention medical concerns now when I say medical concerns, these are not causes per se of weight gain, but challenges that can occur because of weight gain or challenges that might contribute to weight gain or contribute to weight loss resistance. So I'm just gonna mention some of the more common challenges you'll see with people who have a hundred pounds plus to lose. Um, they're often dealing with diabetes or pre-diabetes, they might be dealing with heart disease. They're often dealing with joint issues, particularly knees or ankles. They're often dealing with gut issues. They're often dealing with sleep issues, and there might be more depression. I don't know if that's true, it's just something I've noticed, but that's more of a smaller sample size for me compared to other weight loss clients in terms of how much weight they're trying to lose.
So you always wanna make sure that your larger weight loss client is under medical care and you are aware of what medical conditions they are under care for make sense? So you gotta know that you wanna make sure of that.
Now, for the client themselves, as I mentioned, they often feel like the biggest losers before they've lost anything. It's just a tough label to be the person that has a ton of weight loss, ton of weight to lose, given the climate of weight hate. So that means they often feel isolated. There's a sense of very intense cultural judgment on average. I find that my larger weight loss clients on some level are very disembodied. It's just hard to be in a huge body like that. You cannot successfully have a wonderful experience of embodiment when you're carrying around a hundred, 150, 200 extra pounds.
Also, I wish to say that one of the challenges of any larger weight loss is that in order to lose weight sustainably, one oftentimes needs to adopt the character of a lighter body.
That is a difficult concept to explain for me. It is a difficult concept also for many people to understand. So I'm gonna do my best to explain that right now, you're a different person. If you weigh 250 pounds or 125 pounds, it's a different person. There's a, there's a different character to that body. A large body has its own character, it has its own personality. A large body is very protected. It's very padded energetically. A large body is generally not a body that's having a lot of sex or getting a lot of sexual attention. Usually a large body is not dancing around with ease.
A large body is not super vulnerable as compared to its much, much lighter counterpart.
So if the person who wishes to lose weight doesn't slowly adopt the character of a lighter body, which is on one level, it's a certain confidence to be in that body. On another level, you are letting go of a certain amount of protection on another level. You are just letting go of a lot of weight that you've been carrying around, and all of a sudden you have a different kind of freedom. Are you ready for it? Because you've been wanting to live your real life? Well, okay, now here it is. And oftentimes, if we don't have the inner shift, the outer shift doesn't last that long. Also, the challenge for a larger weight loss client is that a big weight loss requires a bigger commitment. In my experience.
And in a weird way, you know, a big body has one particular benefit that most people don't understand, um, which is a certain kind of power. There's a certain kind of power, believe it or not, in a big body, a big body is more immovable. Um, a big body is more protected,
A big body in its weird way. It it has its own power.
It has its own sense of empowerment.
Size definitely is a form or can be a form of empowerment. So even though the person who has a lot of weight to lose wants to lose a lot of weight, they've been carrying around a body that has a lot of power,
it's hard to sometimes give up that kind of power, just the power that comes with being bigger than everybody else. I mean, it might sound strange, some people have very large bodies understand this, some don't.
If you've never been in that position, it's very hard to make sense of that. But it's a strange bonus kind of power. Um, yeah, let me just leave it at that. Okay, so some themes to keep in mind when working with a larger weight loss client. Some themes, what are the big important life changes that wanna happen for your client? Obviously, other than weight, health and exercise, to me, the bigger the desired weight loss, the bigger the inner transformation that's often, often needed to make it happen.
Larger weight loss client needs, regular self-care. They need to, to, to just make their new lifestyle a lifelong habit.
There's a level where your client is gonna have to let go of past failures at weight loss.
There's not much you can do around that other than come in with your inspired self.
There needs to be a certain consistency with food and diet and your larger weight loss. Client generally needs to follow some guidelines.
The key, the key, the key theme for the larger weight loss client by far and away is embodiment. I'm going to say that definitionally, the larger the weight gain a human has on average,
the more difficult it will be for them to reembody.
Another way to say that, the larger the weight loss client, chances are, the more they have disembodied.
So their job is to learn how to crawl back into the body, land back in the body. Think of them like a rocket ship that took off out of the body and now they gotta land back in it, occupy it.
Strategies for embodiment with the larger weight loss client. These are just some slowing down with food, getting present to sensation with food, particularly in the mouth.
Really learning how to slow this process down. Getting present to sensations in the body with food. That usually means the gut, usually means the belly. You're training your client, you're giving them
exercises to just notice, to eat. Slow. Eat with awareness, be present. Just slow it down. Notice sensations. What's going on in your mouth? What does this taste like? What's going on in your body? How are you feeling? You've already eaten this. What does it feel like? How's your belly? Can you feel your belly? They might not be able to, but this is the rot. Breathing exercises are often very useful. There are great and embodiment exercise for somebody who can't just get up and exercise. If your client who has, who's a larger weight loss client can walk, hallelujah. Anything. If they can swim, hallelujah. Any movement that they could do is good. Feeling feelings, whatever's going on. I don't care what they're feeling, happy, sad, depressed, moody, angry, elated.
I really wanna know what my larger weight loss client is going through and what they're feeling. Because when you feel your feelings, you're embodied. Mirror work is actually interesting work for a larger weight loss client that helps them embody it, helps them encounter themselves. Self massage, even if it's just massaging their own arms or forearms or belly. Anything is a form of embodiment and a form of self-love.
Now I wanna mention this at the beginning. You're gonna see me use some of these strategies in the case studies that I'm gonna go through. I'm calling these jumpstart strategies. These are, I'm gonna call them metabolic strategies to help jumpstart weight loss for larger clients. A lot of times I've just seen this, I've noticed it. Uh, larger weight loss client needs a little bit of a, they need a jumpstart, they need a a extra push, they need a extra dose of help. Here are some of my more favorite strategies. In fact, these are pretty much the ones I stick with. Um, an infrared sauna, regular daily use. Good 30 minutes.
Um, usually you gotta buy one of these unless you have a health spa or some kind of spa that has one. You have to buy one for your house and one that you can truly fit inside. A steam sauna can be just as good a dry sauna, not my preference. Even though infrared is technically dry, it's not necessarily considered a dry sauna. Um, dry sauna can work if it's at a health club or somewhere, but infrared is very, um, how to say, that's the ticket. It is. Um, it's a metabolic enhancer. It can for many people, increase calorie burning capacity. It will certainly create sweating, which is for many, many, many larger weight loss clients. The key, their body has to get to the point where their core temperature is increasing and they are beginning to sweat. And that means we're in a good zone for calorie burning and fat burning infrared sauna. That's, that's the ticket for me for a larger weight loss client.
Diet wise, this doesn't work for everybody. But if I had only one choice of a diet, it's gonna be high in healthy fat, high in protein, lower in carbs, and to do that consistently for a time. Fiber supplementation also can help quite a bit. It can help with blood sugar regulation. It can help with, uh, feelings of fullness in the belly. It can help with elimination. It could actually help with digestion as well. It just gets, it can help the gut get moving. Uh, for fiber supplementation, I generally recommend, generally recommend, especially for the larger weight loss client. PGX, that's the letters. P and g and X, um, can't believe I'm forgetting the company that makes it. Um, but it's a very, very, very good fiber supplement. Um, little bit goes a long way for that. So that's a favorite of mine as well. Uh, your high weight loss client has to be drinking a lot of water, especially if they're doing infrared sauna, steam sauna, especially if they're on a high fat, high, high protein diet. They need a lot of water. Uh, I will at some point be giving my high weight loss clients some probiotic foods and supplements. I will look whenever possible to help them let go of an antidepressant if they're on one, which means working with their medical doctor, I will often ask them to find a good functional medicine doctor for a range of blood tests for thyroid health, insulin resistance, hormone levels, nutrients, just see if there's any particular things that they can do that are supportive. So hopefully your larger weight loss client has been tested for thyroid health, has been tested for insulin resistance.
I'm gonna say those two are key. And also been tested for just some standard hormone panels because sometimes little hormonal work with a doctor who does bioidentical hormone therapy can really help. Okay, so bioidentical hormone therapy for those that need it. And that means getting tested. That means looking up a, a doctor who specializes in bioidentical hormones. You would Google that in the person's area. Um, there's a growth hormone for many larger weight loss clients is a very great weight loss stimulator. Or there's another substance called growth hormone releasing hormone, which generally falls under far less scrutiny for various reasons. The medical profession is, um, very, uh, uptight and strange around growth hormone simply because of, uh, professional athletes who might be using growth hormone illegally, um, growth hormone for many, for many large weight loss clients. And again, not all, um, can make a big difference in jump starting weight loss or growth hormone releasing hormone. So that all comes from a medical doctor who is willing to work with them in that way. You know, I will often, at some point from my larger weight loss client, often, not always, I might at some point put them on a quote unquote, you know, cleanse slash fast. But I'll use something like a Metagenics Ultra Clear plus Shake, uh, simply because it has protein in it, it has fat in it, it has a lot of nutrients. You mix it with water, some juice, you could blend it with some fruit. Um, I'll usually use that after weight loss begins. Or if it doesn't get going and I've tried a lot of other things, um, I might go that route. Sometimes that can jumpstart weight loss.
But everything else on this list, very, very good for Jumpstarting. Your client and fare son is great. I keep saying that. Okay, let's talk about Arthur. My friends Arthur, when I first saw him, he was age 54. He is a former athlete in high school. He owns a successful restaurant supply business. Arthur is divorced. He has two kids. He's not involved in their lives. He weighs 365 pounds. He is six foot tall. He wants to get down to 200 pounds. Arthur has gotten down to about 250 pounds a few times on a diet of protein shake. Then he goes back to his usual eating patterns and he gains it right back.
So recently he's tried another round of protein shakes and he didn't even lose any weight. He lost a little bit. Um, and he was very, very frustrated as this has worked in the past. So, Arthur complains, uh, uh, quite a bit about knee pain. His feet are constantly hurting. He's on an antidepressant, uh, Zoloft, he's on some pain killing medications as well. Uh, he also takes some medication for asthma. Uh, Arthur cannot really exercise. Occasionally. He'll walk a little bit, um, when he is not working, he's sitting down watching TV and there's definitely a part of him that he acknowledges, feels resigned, that he's never gonna lose the weight, but good for him. There's a part of him that still wants to try.
So this is a man of King h and his kids are, I'm forgetting they're, they're late teens. Uh, early twenties, two boys. Um, so he's, I'm thinking this is his, he's giving it another shot. I wonder to myself if he has a shot after this.
So some more information about Arthur. He not in a relationship. He doesn't date. He watches a lot of porn. He feels very embarrassed about his body, but, you know, won't talk about it that much. He'll let me know, like it's God, you know, I'll say, I'll, I'll ask him, how does it feel for you being a guy and not having looked like this all your life? And it's like, what's that? Like? He said, well, it's obviously very embarrassing, you know, but it's not something he's gonna start talking story about. Um, Arthur was an actual decent shape, you know, including just fitness wise up until graduating college. He says he put on the weight at first gradually when he went into the family business. So he just started gaining some weight. He was less active. And as he became more and more immersed in the business and the stress of the business increased and everything increased, and he started taking over more and more and more of responsibilities. He was starting to overeat. He stopped exercising. And at some point he says he didn't pay attention to his weight. Now, at the time, his then wife, you know, raised her hand. She complained, she tried to help him. Uh, he went to a dietician. He went to Weight Watchers and nothing stuck. So at that point in his life, his weight went from about 190. That was his sort of weight for a long time. Uh, he went from 190 to 275 pounds. He says, as the marriage became more problematic because him and his wife were not doing well, eventually he went over 300 pounds.
At some point his wife divorced him. Uh, according to Arthur, they didn't have good communication. They constantly argued. He thinks she was having an affair. They stayed together as long as they could for the kids. He did not want a divorce. So he wasn't happy about that. She left the house when he was approximately 44, and his weight increased to as much as 375 pounds. He says he stopped carrying at one point. Uh, he just gave up. Arthur will tell you he loves food. He loves movies. He enjoys watching football, and he wants to give weight loss another shot. And he clearly says he doesn't know what to do. He has, he mentioned this to me without me asking the question. He explored getting weight loss surgery and he decided he has no interest in it. Um, you know, ask him, Hey, why do you think you gained this amount of weight? And it's interesting, his response was, he thought about it. He said, you know, I, I just let myself go. Why do you think you just let yourself go? And his response, which is completely reasonable, is, I'm not sure, and it's true, he's not sure.
Author's diet breakfast, 8:00 AM He has four eggs. He has a bunch of sausages. He has a bunch of toast. He has big mug of coffee. He drinks water in the morning. Um, he'll have a mid-morning snack, roughly 10:00 AM ish. Chips or cookies, maybe several bags, large bags, eats a lot of, lot of chips and cookies. Lunchtime, he'll order in a large Greek salad at work. He'll get a chicken or a Turkey sandwich. He'll eat a diet coke, drink a diet coke, um, afternoon snack. If he's at home, it's whatever's in the house. If it's in the office, it's whatever's in the office, which is, it's in the house. It's leftovers and junk food. If it's in the office, it's always junk food. Um, there's donuts, there's pastries. And he cannot tell me how much he has, which to me means it's a lot and it's continuous. So that was a hard conversation for him when I'm trying to get the amount. Um, so, so far what I'm noticing is his mid-morning snack and his afternoon snack are very robust. He has a robust breakfast. Honestly, I'm probably not gonna change that too much early on. Uh, 'cause he is gonna need a big breakfast for that big body in the morning. Dinner is at 8:00 PM He has, um, he is consistently does steak. He does potatoes. He'll have salad, he'll have a lot of bread and butter. He eats very large portions. Uh, once that's done, he can have as many as four pints of ice cream in the evening time. Doesn't drink alcohol. He's a very fast eater. He has occasional heartburn throughout the day. So as you see, yeah, definitely places to work with diet here.
As I'm listening to Arthur, he feels very removed. He feels very emotionally distant. The only time I notice Arthur kind of shows up like, oh, there you are. Um, is when he makes a silly joke or when I make a silly joke. Arthur, for some reason, likes silly jokes. You wouldn't guess it. Um, but there's this little, he's got a little kid in him that just comes out with silly jokes. Um, I also notice in the conversation, Arthur's really checking me out and he's trying to see if he trusts me or likes me. Uh, Arthur is extremely sharp. He's has done well in business. Uh, he is also very flat at the same time. His affect is very flat. And remembering that he's on an antidepressant, which usually can collapses our emotional bandwidth. Um, so I'm wondering if that's a big piece of his emotional distance. I mentioned to you he had a very hard time describing his snacks. So that means these are times when he goes unconscious and he's using, using food to regulate his emotions. And he's really feeling whatever emotions he's feeling and he doesn't wanna feel them. So a part of him checks out, and then a part of him numbs out with food.
So he goes unconscious. I'm really wondering if Arthur really wants to do what it takes to lose 160 pounds. Like, I'm really wondering, I'm also wondering for me, if I can be on board as a practitioner with someone who I'm, I'm just not sure if he's truly committed in this realm. I honestly, I don't want to go on this journey if I don't think he's committed.
It's too much work, really. Um, so I'm thinking to myself, here's gonna be my initial approach. I'm gonna be very direct and lay it on the line with him. I'm gonna let him know that I need him to commit from a whole new place. I'm gonna ask him to commit for at least six months. We need to take a different approach than whatever he's done in the past. I can tell you that with any weight loss client, uh, uh, but with him in particular, uh, you know, I'm gonna take some baby steps, but at the same time, I will push hard with a larger weight loss client. Because sometimes you gotta, you gotta push a little harder in certain things. When you have, when you, when you have a bigger ask of the universe, we're asking something bigger. The universe a big weight loss. So sometimes we actually have to take baby steps and other times we have to take some big giant steps. So I'm realizing I probably need to get to know him a little better. And I'm also realizing before I can make my decision, um, and, and I'm also noticing his level of disembodiment. He's very checked out of his body. Um, and I know to myself that that's his main goal. He doesn't know it to get back in his body, to feel himself, to feel his life, to get back in his life, his real life, not the life he's living right now.
So I wanna remind you that for the larger weight loss client embodiment is everything. My friends, no embodiment, no success. I mean that. So I'm, no matter what diet I give him, it doesn't matter. No matter how much protein, how few calories, how much exercise, doesn't matter. If a human being is not in their body, they cannot shapeshift it sustainably, particularly for a larger weight loss client to kickstart weight loss. They have to more and more and more baby step into embodiment.
Okay? So Arthur, he's kind of like me. He's skeptical of me, I'm skeptical of him. We're both, didn't kinda look at each other skeptical. And Arthur kind of broke the eyes. He said, well, you know, what's my plan? And I said to him, you know, I'm not quite sure. I wanna have at least another session with you and get to know you a bit here. 'cause my plan is gonna be flexible and it's gonna change as we go along.
And he basically said he needs to have a sense of the big picture and some of the details of what I would do. That's so different. 'cause I let him know we're gonna be taking a different approach. So he wants to know, which honestly, that's, that's very reasonable. So all of a sudden I realize, okay, okay, okay, okay, I need to lay it out here with him. I have to adjust to his personality. And he is asking me very reasonable requests. Um, so, okay, I need to give him a plan, a basic bare bones plan and take command and come on strong and tell him, okay, you know, here's what we're gonna have to do to, to even get in the zone of getting you where you want to go. So I'm gonna tell you, uh, so I, so I put this out to him as a two month initial plan. I told him what we would be doing, and I'm gonna tell you in advance, he agreed to jump on board. Once I told him this plan, he said, okay, I'm in. By the way, once he told me he was in, I was in.
So either we're gonna do some combination of the following in the first two months. You need to learn how to become a slow eater. And by slow eater, you're gonna be taking more time with meals. You're gonna learning, you're gonna be learning how to just get present with your food and be more aware. You're gonna need to learn how to really taste your food and sense it. And you're gonna go from eating, being a fast eater to a slow eater. I'm gonna need you to commit to that. If I can't help you do that, I can't help you with anything. So that's a non-negotiable, um, goal that you need to commit to. I said, we're gonna initially change your food at home. I want high quality food in your house. There's not gonna be any more junk food in the house. It doesn't mean there's not gonna be fun food. There's just gonna be no junk food. I'm also, at some point in this two months, I'm gonna ask you to get all the junk outta the office. So you're not gonna have to worry. I don't care what anybody else says. Um, you need to get the junk outta the entire office or outta your office space. I understand you can't really exercise. I'm gonna want you doing breathing exercises every day. You could do that in your chair.
I want you to learn how to tolerate cold water. I want you doing hot and cold showers at least once a day in the morning, preferably twice a day in the evening before bed. You're gonna start out with a hot, a normal hot shower. And then you're gonna completely shut off all the hot water and you're gonna turn on the water as cold as it gets. And you're gonna train your body to stay in that cold water for as long as you can. 30 seconds a minute, 2, 3, 4, 5, cover your whole body with the cold water. I want you to do a daily sauna. Chances are that means either going to a health club or for you because you're rich and you could afford it. I want you to get a infrared sauna for your house. You're gonna be doing a sauna for 30 minutes a day. You're gonna be doing breathing exercises at night in bed. I'm gonna ask you to consider getting off your antidepressant, which likely means you're gonna have to, 'cause you don't have a psychiatrist anymore. Um, so you're gonna have to find a new doctor and get off your antidepressant just because that can often kickstart weight loss. And I let him know. He, he watches a lot of violent movies. And I told Tim, I'm gonna ask you to change that. I'm gonna ask you as part of your diet, to let go of junk food media, uh, watch comedy, watch nature documentaries, watch any kind of educational documentaries. I want you to let go of horror movies and violent movies and I want you to let go of porn. I don't care what what else you do. Do music, do reading, do uplifting videos or movies as a substitute. But Arthur spends a bunch of time doing porn. I also suspect he might be watching a lot more porn than he tells me he's watching.
So that's a lot, by the way, in two months. Just so you know, that's a lot for a person who's not doing anything.
So, and that's the reason why I didn't wanna even tell 'em what we're gonna be doing because it sounds like it, it is a lot. Granted, I would introduce these things, you know, a few at a time. So normally I would be concerned, um, that I'm gonna lose my client right off the bat. But he asked for it, you know, and honestly, I'm glad he did because I was suspicious. And notice, I just want you to notice from the list that I just read to you, or if you were looking at it that you can see, want you to notice that there's a combination of embodiment and body awareness. There's changes in food, there's changes in the media that he's using for the media. I am asking him to get more conscious. For God's sake. You're a king. Act like one. You're watching nonsense movies that really what his movies are doing, because he's not feeling he's in a large body. He's disembodied. When people become disembodied, they need to do extreme things to feel embodiment. So you watch violent movies because that gives you a sensation in your body. You watch porn. It is extreme sex. And for a male, what that will do is it will give him some sensation, it will give him an experience. It might turn him on. But that's the kind of extreme he needs to turn himself on because he's a man and he has a sex drive. And this is the only thing that does it for him.
So I'm asking him to grow. I'm asking him to mature.
I'm asking him to kickstart weight loss with a sauna. He has to get one for his house, by the way, the hot and cold showers, you know, I'm, I'm gonna talk a little bit more about these, but that's a form of embodiment. I'm asking him to feel sensation. Trust me, you put cold water on your body, he's gonna feel that. You don't have to watch porn, you don't have to watch a violent movie, put cold water on your body. But that's a training. It's a training for embodiment. It's gonna help him get back in his body. And it's easy. It's a shower. Sounds crazy. But all this is actually, it's a great strategy quite honestly. Okay, let's just go right for it. After two months, okay? So two months are over. I'm not gonna go into all the details about when I introduced what and how I did that. You're gonna have to fill in the blanks for yourself. 'cause otherwise we would be here for a long time. But as you can imagine, it's very difficult for him to eat slow. Check this out. You know, in order for him to get out of like a lot of the porn and a lot of the, the violent and horror movies, he started listening to music. I mean, he listens to music on occasion, but he really got into music. So that was a huge win. That was a huge win. He just sort of discovered his long lost love for it. Um, Arthur, I think he dragged his feet about the sauna. It shouldn't have taken two months, but he still didn't have one. It didn't come yet. He had to order it for his house. Um, so that was a little bone of contention. I was annoyed at him because maybe he was dragging his feet, maybe he wasn't. But it seemed to me like he was, um, breathing exercises. He was doing 10 long, slow, deep breaths three times per day every day. He likes it, huh? I like that. I like that he likes it. Uh, that's embodiment. You're just learning how to do something with your body and do something very useful with your body, which is to breathe in more oxygen, more oxygen, more metabolism. Simple as that. My friends, more oxygen, a little more brain power. He hates the hot and cold showers. But to his credit, and I've really told him he has to be consistent. Remember we're doing this because it is forced embodiment. It is a different kind of sensory input. It will have healing effects on the body, but it is a pure embodiment strategy. If I was at his house, I, and, and, and I can put in a huge cold tub, I would throw him in the cold water three times a day. That'll wake you up. Um, so he's been eating high quality food at home. He now shops at a big health food store. He's eating more organic. He's eating free range meats. So I did that whole thing with him, switching him to healthier foods. By the way, I'm dealing with somebody who has money. So I never will let a client like that say no to me. When it comes to an expense such as buying a sauna or buying expensive food. He's still on his antidepressant. Uh, he's let go of all violent movies. He has not let go of porn. He still watches it every day. He's telling me he is only watching it for about 30 minutes as opposed to an hour or more at night. I think that hour or more was probably a lot more. Um, after two months, he's lost about 14 pounds. Hey, I'll take it. Um, honestly, if you didn't lose any weight, I, it wouldn't have mattered to me. It truly, truly would not matter to me. Um, 14 pounds for a 365 pound human in two months is not a lot of weight. And at the same time, I really want you to hear this, really want you to hear this. I care not. I truly care not because what I've seen is it doesn't matter. I would almost be more concerned if he lost 75 pounds in that two months. It's almost too much too soon.
His body is telling me where it's at. His body's saying, you know something, we're going real slow here. Okay? So that's what your body's doing. I like it. We're doing good things for your body. And your body responded in kind. It took a little baby step in weight loss. So what I want you to hear is success. Was he feeling successful? No. Was I feeling successful? You better believe it. I'm feeling successful by the way, because he's following my strategies and we kickstarted weight loss in a good way.
Not eating less food. He's just eating better food.
You have to let the body be what it is. I've had large weight loss clients who don't lose weight for three months. Um, seriously. And all of a sudden it starts to come off. Can't predict it. Okay, here's the next two month plan.
Arthur's committed to being with me for at least six months, okay, Arthur, for the next two months, I want you to continue everything you've been doing. So we're not letting go of anything. We're continuing it. You must start the saunas. I really want you to consider getting off your antidepressant. You need to find a doctor. You need to make that happen. I want you to go cold Turkey on porn. I don't want you to slowly let go of it. I just want you to pick a day and stop watching. Um, I wanted him to drink a different kind of water. I told 'em to get an alkaline water machine and drink at least eight glasses per day. At least eight glasses per day. Why an alkaline water machine? Ah, you know, it's also a little kick-starting trick. Um, alkaline water. Uh, you know, there's not a lot of accepted science around it except to say that when a body is drinking alkaline water, oftentimes what we characters and clinicians notice when you play with that, with people who have different health conditions is it can yield a positive result. So oftentimes a person with that large of a body and large of a weight loss needed, um, they can be running a little bit more towards the acid side. So I wanna see what can I do to naturally alkalinize his body. Um, so we're also, I also worked on cleaning up his diet even more and getting off of all junk food at work. 'cause he hasn't really done that yet. So no junk food at work whatsoever, like zero zero tolerance policy. Um, why is zero tolerance policy? Ah, I feel like pushing him. He's a dude. He's a guy. He needs to be pushed. Um, he needs to feel a little bit of the task master energy. As much as he resists it, I could see that it works for him. So, you know, I normally might have a little, I I would normally have more leeway with somebody. Yeah, you could have once a week or twice a week. But Arthur's the kind of guy I, I just wanna push him. Um, so that's my inspiration around him. Okay, results. So after four months, so this next two months, which is a total of four months now still Arthur finds, uh, eating slow, very hard at night. Uh, that's the most difficult time for him, but he is been more successful during the day. Okay, we're getting somewhere. Arthur, I gotta say he looks a little happier and a little bit brighter and a little bit lighter. Energetically he sweats. Okay? So he is got his sauna. He sweats like crazy in the sauna. Oh, I so love to hear that. That means you are burning fat and burning calories my friend. And you are getting your metabolism, your calorie burning metabolism and metabolism in general. You're getting it moving. He says when he is in the sauna, he coughs a lot. Remember there's a man who has asthma. Um, but he feels like it's a really good thing for his health. So he's detoxing in that sauna. Uh, check this out. He complimented me on pushing him to get the sauna. 'cause I pushed him is the first nice thing he said to me in four months. I mean that. Uh, so I felt good about myself. Yay. I got complimented by my client. Um, so the breathing exercises and the cold showers are routine for him now. He actually kind of enjoys it. So he found a psychiatrist. He's tapering down from his antidepressant. He says the alkaline water tastes better and he is drinking it consistently. I love the fact that he can see that it tastes better. 'cause this is a man whose senses are dulled. His senses on his tongue were dull because he is, because he is living on junk food. And his senses for input in terms of sexual input is dull porn. Dulls your senses. Uh, horror movies. I'm sorry, consistently violence and hard dulls your senses. Um, so he couldn't go cold Turkey with porn. He tried. I really appreciate his honesty. Um, I never use this word with him, but he's addicted to porn. He, so we renegotiated and he watches porn four times per week and no more than 30 minutes in this particular little chunk of time. He lost another 40 pounds in this past two months. So he's down to right above 300. So I got a happy camper. Arthur is excited to lose more weight and he is enjoying the success. So this 40 pounds, this particular two months made a real difference for him. He is starting to see the results. He's doing good things for his body. Check this out. I love you Arthur. He says it feels different from previous weight losses. Of course it is. 'cause you're more embodied. You're doing healthy things for yourself. You're changing your life. You are engaging with your porn addiction. You're letting go of a lot of nonsense media. You're eating high quality food. You are drinking high quality water. You are breathing, you are doing healthy health strategies like the sauna, like the cold shower. You're paying attention to your eating speed. You're embodying in that way. Of course, it's different because it's not a a pushed forced weight loss. It's an honest weight loss. It's a real weight loss. Okay?
So for the next two months, Arthur, we're gonna continue with all other strategies that we've been doing. And now, you know, here's me, I, we're having some success, so I'm gonna mix it up a little bit. I'm always gonna mix it up with this kind of client and push a little more and add more things. I gave him some EFAs to take EFA supplement, probiotic supplement. I wanted him on some liquid chlorophyll. It's just a great ongoing easy detoxifier. I put him on just a, a good, just high quality multi herb formula. Uh, an anti-inflammatory herb formula. And in these next two months, I want him to, um, let's start doing the juicing thing. So I want you to have at least one fresh veggie juice every day. You can make it, you could buy it, I don't care. And because he's having less joint pain, I want you to start walking whenever you feel you can walk.
Um, you know, during this time we also, this is the one place I started really pushing him. Now that he likes me, now he's seeing a result. I started talking about his affect, his personality. I said, you know, you're really standoffish. Um, like at this point I could say to him, you don't have a winning personality. And you know, I asked him to start being nicer to people. His employees especially. Um, I, I told him he could be nicer to me too, and we got a good laugh out of that. So I'm asking him to work on himself. I'm asking him to notice his affect around others.
Why not? I'm helping him be a better person. Personal power equals metabolic power. As we become the person that we're meant to be, our body has the best chance to become what it is meant to be. If I just had to tell him to take supplements and drink fresh juices every day, Uhuh, I don't see that being nearly as effective as working on body and working on being at the same time.
Now, a couple of reminders here, just wanna mention, we're still on this case study. Always expect and always welcome setbacks. 'cause they happen. Your client's gonna go through cravings. They're gonna have breakthroughs, really. They're gonna have challenges and they're gonna have resistance. So I'm always locked and loaded. I'm always ready to hear the setbacks, to hear the cravings, to hear the resistances, to hear the challenges. And I'm always welcoming breakthroughs when they happen.
Setbacks and plateaus with the larger weight loss client are just, just about a hundred percent predictable. Just about. So after another two months, a total of six months, now he's off his antidepressant. He says there's no difference. He can see or feel in any way, shape, or form. Um, honestly, I don't see much of a difference in him either. Um, he hates taking pills, IE the supplements, but he's doing it. Uh, he really enjoys the juices. He says walking was not nearly as painful for him as he was imagining it would be. Uh, during this time, he got sick with a lung infection or a flu for about three weeks. Honestly, my interpretation of that was he was cleansing something out. Um, his, he's, his Arthur is clearer, he's clearer. I'm just like his, his voice is more resonant. Uh, he's embodied more. He's in his voice more. He's in his chest more. So it was interesting that he had a lung infection or a flu for three weeks. And it was, uh, just, he sounded like a different person. So in this time he lost another 27 pounds. So he's down to 273. Um, uh, wasn't happy. Well 'cause the last two month period he lost 40 pounds. So I think he was expecting more. Uh, so he came in disappointed. You know, by this time, I mean we'd been seeing each other, but this was a disappointment for him. And that became a talking point, uh, his relationship with this thing called disappointment. So we really had a good, good conversation around that, about his weight loss journey, about its unpredictability, about how far we've come about. What a great place he's in. Yeah, I get you wanted to lose more weight. You lost 40 pounds in the last two months and you lost 27 pounds in these two months. It's okay. Where trending in a very good direction. Life is good. Let go, give it up. So far so good success.
So I'm very, um, direct and deliberate. And I'm just a little bit of a strict parent with Arthur because that's what wants to come out of me. Arthur's not a woowoo guy. He doesn't need me to hug him. He doesn't need me to stroke his feminine. Arthur needs me to be a tough guy in a lot of ways. A stern father, but somebody who occasionally makes silly jokes. Really? Okay, Arthur, here's the plan for the next two months. I told Arthur we're gonna keep going until we both think it's done. Are you on board? Yes. It's, I don't even say to him, we're gonna work another six months or whatever. I'm saying, here's our next two month plan. So I'm not even, I'm, I'm, I'm just assuming he's a yes because I'm helping you. So continue everything you've been doing. Um, it turns out he, he wanted to take a healthy vacation somewhere for two weeks. He's really inspired to go to a health spa. Ah, what a great thing. So, you know, he's feeling good momentum in his life. Um, so I, so I was really thrilled about that. I asked him once again to try let go of porn. A hundred percent. He says he's ready. Um, I asked him at this time to get back into closer and more meaningful relationship with his two boys. We talked about that. They're in their late twenties. Uh, we had some good conversations here. This was the first, this was the most extended period of time. We've talked about his personal life, which was talking about him as a dad, talking about his two boys. Um, and he, it was, it was, it was a, it was a pulling teeth kind of conversation. But he was extremely willing nonetheless, um, like, why aren't you in their lives? And I think there was a little bit where the mom sort of won. She kind of won them over. They were probably looking at their dad like, he's a bit of a loser. I'm not sure. But that's kind of what he intimated. He just lost his boys. He just lost his connection with them. And I think instead of taking charge, he just, he just gave up. So really that's it. Just continue what, what we're doing. Go on your vacation for two weeks, let go of porn and start getting meaningful conversation with your boys. So check this out. Two months are over. So this is an eight month report. Now, the next two months, he had a breakthrough experience on his vacation. He did a lot of exercise. He did a lot of swimming, did a lot of walking, hiking. He took aerobic classes every day. He did a lot of self care. He got massages. Um, he was naturally eating smaller meals than usual for him. And to me, he felt like more in his body than I've ever seen him. I like Arthur looked embodied. He's looking really good. So during this period of time, he loses 40, 40 something pounds, 42 pounds. So he's down to about 230 pounds. He got a big smile on his face. He's telling me he can see the definition in his leg muscles and his arm muscles. And he's showing me, uh, very, very proud. Uh, he met a lady he liked at the resort. So they're keeping in touch. This is the first time he's had a lady in his life in forever. Um, you know, they just kind of met and liked each other. Nothing's really happening other than they're keeping in touch. And he's had a few conversations with his boys and he said he's slowly warming up to them and vice versa. Good news. Okay, now here's our next and our last three months together. So we were together for three more months. So almo almost a year. Um, by the time we finished here, Arthur's feeling very good in his body. He, he's eating lighter. He enjoys eating lighter. He enjoys a healthier lifestyle. So he is enjoying his lifestyle. Um, I felt he was clearly past a certain inner threshold. Arthur lost another 22 pounds. He now weighs about 208. So in the last three months, 22 pounds, he's at 208 and he was at 208 for a little while. So it's not like he just got down to 208. He was at 208 for a good month and a half. And To me, I took this As an indication that his body was landing at this weight for now. And I asked him, Hey Arthur, let's like hold steady at this weight. Let's just put the brakes on, not focus on weight loss. And you know what? I want you to focus on living your life. Yeah, you might lose weight. Yeah, you might not. But, Um, we just lost a lot of weight. And It's time for you to just focus on living your life because your body wants to hang here a while. So we're gonna listen to the body. 'cause your body's a lot smarter than You or Me or anyone around here.
Now, some final thoughts here. We did A check-in call four months later. Everything is relatively well. Uh, he's been trying to get down to 190 pounds, but can't, uh, porn was still an issue for him. Uh, he's dating a new woman, not the one that he met. They're actually kind of going out on dates. And this woman is very much into health and exercise. Um, And, you know, we Both knew that the work was done. Um, on one level. You know, I, I struggled with him a little bit at The end because I, I kind of wanted to switch to more coaching. Um, I wanted him to want self-awareness more and to do a deep qual, deeper quality of work. It just wasn't. And it's just, we Went as far as we could together. And I think he went as far as he was willing to go in all These realms. Uh, and the reality is, the true reality is he did amazing. Um, he really bravely pushed himself and our work together. He really, really, really worked hard. And, you know, as I look back on it, he needed help getting back in his bur in his body. That's what he needed. He needed someone to help rebirth him into his body and then help him learn how to manage his own energy.
By the way, just every session that we met, I talked about porn. That was always the crux of the conversation because it really had him. Um, but he's using it to manage his sexual energy. He's using it to manage his sensual energy. Um, but just even being in conversation about it is transformational. Even pointing it out, letting him know that this is a place you have to work on, um, and get back into right relationship with your own sexuality and sensuality. Um, so I was a big advocate for him to embody in a good way. I took a very strong masculine approach and I took a very directive approach with him, which ended up being super helpful. And he had a wonderful, wonderful weight loss. Um, he has a new body. This happens to a lot of people. They, they hit their target and then, no, no, no, I just wanna a little more, you know, and it's, it's, it's, it's, it's not uncommon to see that. And what I've learned over the years is, at some point with a client, you've got to tell them to push the long-term, pause button for a while, and hang out at this weight and let go of weight loss and just focus on your life. Because otherwise you're still living in weight loss consciousness. It was a hard one for him to understand. So let us call that a wonderful success. And notice how I, with this particular client, I'm not saying this is what one should do with a larger weight loss client, but with this particular weight loss client who happens to be a larger weight loss client, it was abundantly clear the archetype I needed to come from, which was strict father, strict coach with an occasional dose of silliness and it worked. Okay, my friends, some key questions, key questions to think about for larger weight loss clients, I might ask these questions of them. Eh, this helpful? This is at the beginning. Why do you think you gain this weight? No right or wrong answers here. Mr. Mrs. Client, who are you gonna be when you lose the weight? How will you be different? How will life be different other than the obvious stuff? I'm gonna be lighter. What do you think gets in your way? I'm, I'm just wanting your opinion here. Again, there's no right or wrong answers. What excites you most about losing the weight and having the body you want? What scares you most about losing weight and having the body you want? By the way, you never take, I don't know, for an answer I don't know is a lazy answer. If somebody says, I don't know, I don't know. What scares me most about losing weight and having, well, think about it for a second. What might you be afraid of? What might be scary about that?
Okay, Mr. Ms. Klein, at this way that this body was teaching you important lessons about life. What, what might those be? Just guess. Imagine you were the creator of all the universe and everything was a lesson in life. What might be the lesson of having a bigger body?
I also asked this question of Arthur. So I, I put it in here because he is the only person I've ever asked this question to, but it ended up being a really good question. Uh, in, in the first session, I said, what do you think are the attributes or qualities of a professional who can successfully help you lose weight? He was so suspicious of me. So I wanna find out, okay, well what would make you not suspicious of me? That's kind of what I'm on one level, what I'm asking, what do you think are the attributes or qualities of a professional who can successfully help you lose weight?
And you know, he, he essentially told me somebody who has a plan and somebody who knows what they're doing. And that's when I remember thinking, okay, got it. That's exactly what you need. He literally told me exactly what he needs. He needs a plan. And somebody that knows what they're doing, I kind of know what I'm doing. And more to the point, it's a mystery, but I'm confident in myself. So he needed somebody who was confident. 'cause that's what he said. What do you think are the attributes or qualities of professionals who can successfully help you lose weight? It's a great question. Especially for people who are a little bit doubting you. Any kind of client really. It's a great question to ask. It puts them on the spot in a good way.
And if they answer it honestly, you're, they're gonna actually tell you what is very helpful for them. So he actually told me some of the archetypal energy that he needed.
Now I have an ask of a big weight loss client. These are my asks, my requests of big weight loss client, minimum six month commitment. If you wanna lose a hundred pounds or more with me, you gotta be on board for six months. Hey, if you lose that weight beforehand, I'm not gonna keep you to that six month commitment. But if you don't lose that weight beforehand, I want you to commit to doing this work for six months, meaning it's taken you a long time to put this weight on. Don't ask me to help you get rid of it in six weeks. My big ask of a weight loss client, I always let 'em know, I'm gonna ask you to do things that seemingly, seemingly have nothing to do with weight loss. You could always say no, but I ask that you be open and willing as your basic posture. Can you go, can you agree to that Mr. And Mrs. Client that I might ask you to do some things that seem like they don't have anything to do with weight loss. And that's oftentimes in the personal realm. And of course you could always say no, but I, I want you to be open and willing. Just have a willingness as your basic posture. Can you agree to that? I want a yes or a no. Um, I don't say I want a yes or no, but can you agree to that? Um, also my big ask of a weight loss client, I need you to be a hundred percent honest with me. If you don't answer, if you don't want to answer a question, feel free to say, I don't want to answer that question. And I will respect that rather than tell me something that isn't true. It's not something you can agree to.
I don't want people telling me that, oh, I did this, I did that, and they didn't do this or didn't do that because they're trying to make me feel good. That can happen with a larger weight loss client. A lot of times they're gonna want to take care of you. They don't wanna look bad in your eyes. I really need them to be truthful with me.
I also will let them know, this may not always be easy work and I need you to be willing to work hard on your own behalf and you can let me know when something seems too hard for you. That's fine. I'm gonna ask you to do things that are impossible for you. I'm gonna ask you to work a little hard.
Can you agree to that? So it's just kind of setting up some of the themes for the work. Some of the themes for the relationship.
I mean, I, I need my larger weight loss client. To be honest. I've had a few times with weight loss clients in general where they, I realized, oh my God, you're taking care of me. You don't want me to feel bad about myself. And you don't wanna feel bad about yourself. So you're telling me things that aren't true.
People will do that 'cause they don't wanna seem like a failure.
So reminder my friends, extra weight might be, might be, doesn't have to be, but might be any one or all or some or none of these protection call for help.
It's usually a form of abandonment.
It's usually a form of self abandonment. IEA checking out of the body. IE when Arthur said, yeah, I just let myself go. That's self abandonment. That's checking out of the body. Chances are he was abandoned at some point. Maybe it was his ex-wife. He felt abandoned by her. Maybe he had abandonment happen earlier on. Oftentimes extra weight may be trauma related experiences that we've had in life, whatever they are, that was very difficult for us to metabolize and lives as a very intense stress in the body. Sometimes it's a protest in many ways. Extra weight is like a spiritual journey. And always it's a call to embody and to agree to be here.
A person who has gained a large amount of weight, or a person who has lost a large amount of weight, IE in anorexic, they're not embodied and they have not agreed to be here.
So it's time to embody, it's time to be here.
Now I also wanna say a few words about bariatric surgery because that these days is the solution for the extreme weight loss client. The very large weight loss client. And I, hmm, let me be brief here. Okay, you might have heard me say a few things about this. But in general, for me and bariatric bariatric surgery, it is not my personal preference. I am not a fan. So that is my opinion. And it is only an opinion. It is a strong opinion. It is strongly not a personal preference. I am not a fan. It is a very last resort in my opinion. And I believe that last resorts are fine and good. I really do. So here's the thing. Many people benefit from bariatric surgery. It happens. People benefit from it. Here's the other thing, many do not, unfortunately, my friends, I don't care what you hear and you won't hear much. But the real numbers and the real details are beyond well hidden. Good luck. I don't think anyone knows except the bariatric surgery industry. And they're not telling us adverse reactions to bariatric surgery are stunningly under reported in the media and in quote unquote sales. When somebody's selling you on the surgery,
they're gonna leave out that conversation in terms of how much of a conversation it ought to be. Adverse reactions can be very difficult and there can be permanent unwanted side effects from this surgery. I'm not gonna go into those details, but they're numerous. The industry around the surgery is extremely powerful and aggressive in making this kind of elective surgery a huge business. This is an elective surgery. You don't need it. You can choose to have it, but you don't need it. It is a huge moneymaker. There are powerful lobby groups. The bariatric surgery industry has a lobby group. Did you know that?
You probably didn't. And they're a very active lobby group and they are poking and they show up in some interesting places and all kinds of weight loss studies. You know, it's, and you gotta look at the end of the study to see who funds it.
They don't want you losing weight. They want you gaining weight and coming into their door.
If you have a client who is thinking about bariatric surgery, it is best for your client to speak with as many human beings as possible who've actually had this surgery. That's the key. I do not want my clients, my friends, my loved ones to be blindsided by the potential and often likely side effects. Don't be blindsided. Know exactly what you're getting into.
Like I said, I've heard good stories and I've heard bad stories on average, I've heard more bad stories. Perhaps you've heard more good stories. Um, for clients, I often get this question, well, I have a client who's coming to see me. They've had bariatric surgery. How do I work with them? Um, my friends, you work with them the same way you would work with anybody else. What's their issue? Why are they coming to see you treat them like any other client? So if, are they coming to see you for weight gain? Yes, you will get many clients. There are many, many people who have bariatric surgery. They don't lose weight. They have bariatric surgery, they do lose weight, and they have bariatric surgery and they lose weight and then they gain it back at some point. Or they gain some of it back or they gain whatever. So work with them like you would work with any other weight loss client,
work with them on appetite, work with them on eating, work with them on slow eating. Are they overeating? Are they binge eating work with the same protocols that you would use for overeating and binge eating. For a person who hasn't had bariatric surgery than one who has, sometimes you dealing with a disappointed human. The bariatric surgery clients that I've worked with are disappointed, they're upset. And you just gotta understand. Yeah, that makes total sense. So same way you would work with any other client and they must must be seeing a doctor if they have complications. If your bariatric surgery client is complaining to you about complications, do not treat them. They must be going to a doctor for their complications. Uh, that's a must. Um, do not in any way, shape or form in my opinion, unless you are qualified. Don't work with their complications.
It hurts when I eat this so happens to my digestion. They have to see a medical professional for that. And if they're asking you for additional support and they're already getting treated fine, then it's fair to make suggestions. Absolutely. Okay, my friends, I think we should talk about another case study. Let's talk about Cassie. When I saw Cassie, she was 41 years old, she wanted to lose 165 pounds. Cassie weighs 320 pounds. So what does she wanna get down to? About 155.
So she's five six. She's single. She's friendly, very upbeat person, happy cheerleader type of person who feels quite defeated by her inability to lose weight. She has a lot of embarrassment around her weight. She works around high achieving people. She's in the human resources department of a mid-size, uh, company. So, you know, a mid-size corporation, so it's not small. Uh, so she does a lot of training and lectures in her companies. She really enjoys being front and center. Uh, and even though she loves being front and center, she's ashamed at the same time. So this is a person who kind of is like a stage presence. A lot of her work week and she loves it. She's great at what she does. She's proud of what she does, and she's embarrassed about herself. She says she can lose about 40 pounds on a low calorie diet, but she gains it back. She's tried high protein diet with mixed results. Uh, the weight came on gradually over about 10 or 12 years. She's not quite sure the last time she weighed 155 pounds. She was 25 years old or so. She used to exercise and enjoy it. Nowadays she takes occasional walks. She's not in that much contact with her family. She's estranged from her parents. She has some contact with an older brother. Uh, she does not have good memories. She had a very conservative and impressive upbringing. Uh, she was, uh, engaged once it didn't work out. And it seems to me that the timing of her quote unquote, gradual weight gain was not too long after her breakup. Um, she's very interested to meet someone and have a long-term relationship, but body shame holds her back from dating.
Let's dive in, see what we can figure out here. A little more info about Cassie. Why does she think she's gained the weight? Another person said, I just let myself go. Uh, she loves food, says she overeats. How would life be different when she loses the weight? She's gonna have more confidence. She's gonna like herself better. She's gonna fit into her old clothes. Those were her first three answers. Um, she says she would like to eat healthy. She really would, but she doesn't have the willpower. She straight up about that. I don't have the willpower. She, um, she complains that her knees hurt from the extra weight. She's not doing any specific thing about it other than her knees hurt. Uh, she has constipation and her energy drops in the afternoon at around 2:00 PM She's been tested for thyroid health and diabetes and she's got nothing intensely medical going on. Hmm, interesting. Here's her diet. Breakfast early in the morning, toast plus eggs or pancakes or french toast along with juice and coffee. So that's every morning for a mid-morning snack. She has quote unquote donut or pastries or whatever's at the office, which is some version of donut and pastries. Uh, lunchtime. She'll have a Turkey or a chicken sandwich. She'll have a bag of chips, she'll have a diet Coke. And there's always various candies and candy bars in the office. Uh, 3:30 PM More office candies. More pastries. Yeah, a lot of offices. They are not built for healthy people all the time. So she's, she's loading up on carbs oftentimes in the morning at breakfast as her mid-morning snack as her afternoon snack. Dinner is usually at home. It's a, it's a six 30 dinner. She does a meat plus a starch, plus a veggie plus another diet of coke. Um, she has ice cream and or cookies for dessert, and that's pretty much every day. Cassie describes herself as a fast eater. Shell have a cup of glasses of wine on the weekend. She eats out dinner two times per week approximately. And she says she has a lot of bread, she has a lot of dessert and she has a lot of pasta. So her eating out is like a splurge experience for her. She didn't use that term, but it clearly, she described it as such. So as you can see, all kind of juicy, good, wonderful places to work here.
Here's my initial thoughts. Here's what I'm thinking. Okay, great. I got great places to work around diet. I can work with eating speed. Um, noticing my client, she has a lot of energy. She's very vibrant. Ain't nothing lazy about this woman. Uh, it feels to me like she's, she's checked out of her body and is simply not at home in it. Really, I feel like when I'm sitting with her, she's not fully in that body. She's in her head, but she's not in her body. Um, Cassie is just a very, very likable person. She has a very sweet public persona. And the reason why I say that is because this is often a challenge with high weight loss people often, not always, as they can be quite good at being happy and upbeat even when something completely different is going on for them. I'll just notice this with some of my high weight loss clients. Um, she's not comfortable expressing any kind of negative emotion. She doesn't like to express anger, upset, low mood. She feels that if she goes there, she's never gonna come back. Just, I just don't go there. Okay, good for you. That's interesting.
So here's the first month's focus. First month I'm gonna focus with her on slowing down with food, getting present, feeling nourished by food. I'm gonna have her begin to increase her food quality shop in a health food store. I wanna have her change her breakfast. I gave her a menu of choices based on finding out what she actually likes. So for every breakfast, it's either two to three eggs plus organic toast, or it's organic breakfast sausage plus toast, or it's a healthy tuna salad plus toast. So I want to get her in a, in a higher protein, higher healthy fat breakfast. And I want her to move to organic coffee and some organic green juice. I want her getting rid of all diet soda. I want her drinking four to six glasses of filtered water every day. And in the first month, I want her to work on her food and body autobiography. Meaning everything you could think of since childhood that you've gone through around food and body challenges and successes around your relationship with food, your relationship with your weight, like different diets you've been on anytime you haven't loved your body. Key times when you liked your body. Just whatever stories stick in your mind.
So I'm doing a blend of work with her now. I wanna start off, uh, slow to moderate in her dietary changes. So I only changed her breakfast. I only wanted to change her breakfast even though I did say no diet soda and drink four to six glasses of filtered water. So first of all, diet soda is just artificial nasty stuff. And it dulls your taste intelligence. Anytime you put, how do I say this? I wanna say dumb food on in your body consistently. You will dumb down your taste buds. Dumb food, meaning it's not real, it's not recognizable. It, it, it isn't part of nature. Nature. Um, no human being has ever seen diet soda up until like, I don't know, the 19, late 1950s or early 1960s. So I want her to get rid of that throughout the day, but I just had to change her breakfast. I don't want to go too fast in that realm, even though I'm also asking her, Hey, you know, shop for these things in a health food store for your breakfast. So I'm slowly easing into food quality. Um, she gets a lot of pleasure from junk food. She's let me know she's, she. There's this woman has no problem receiving pleasure, uh, particularly as it relates to food. She loves her junk food. Whenever she talks about the stuff she eats at the office, she'll laugh at herself for eating food that she knows is making her fat. But man is she have a big smile on her face, right? This is so good. So she's honest. I wanna get her into healthy eating consciousness. So that's the health food store. Um, of course slow eating is always the fundamental. Um, must have, must do for any eating challenge. She goes unconscious when she eats. And my job is to help her get conscious. Slow eating is embodiment
and I wanna see who she is in the personal growth universe. I just wanna see, okay, write your food and body autobiography. I just wanna see what happens or what that brings up, if anything. Okay, so results after one month. Cassie is intrigued by shopping at the health food store 'cause there's so many new products and possibility. She had a ton of questions for me, so that was very sweet. She's enjoying her new breakfast. I love it. And she says she doesn't miss the pancakes and the french toast. That was an issue for her. She said to me, she's less hungry now after breakfast in terms of the mid-morning. Ah, isn't that interesting? Because when we eat a high poor quality carbohydrate breakfast, you'll tend to be craving carbohydrates throughout the rest of the day as every bit of research that's ever been done on breakfast shows. Of course, she finds slow eating, very difficult. She's been diligent about drinking water and she feels it's making her less hungry. Uh, she admitted that the autobiography was very confronting for her. She says, I feel very exposed. She told me she really sees that she hasn't liked her body since she was a young teenager, and she's never known what to do about it. She said she has a lot of anger and disappointment at her parents for not being able to see her struggles or to help her with this in any way whatsoever. She also said to me that writing this autobiography, she said she realized that she used sex quite a bit in her twenties to get men to like her. Uh, she said she had a lot of encounters that she now regrets and feels ashamed of because she was just using sex to be liked. So I'm loving her honesty and I'm extremely pleased with her progress. I'm enjoying my client.
Okay, so then the second month, here's what the focus was. I want her to change her snacks at work. Fruit, veggies plus hummus, fruit plus nut butter. She likes jerky. So buy a healthy jerky at the hell food store, hard boiled egg organic yogurts. We had a long list of stuff.
I also asked her to change her lunch to a salad plus protein, plus olive oil. Do organic chips and do tea. Your water continue slowing down with food. Continue on as we've been doing with breakfast.
And I'm really wanting to continue to help her change her palate. She needs a reeducation. She's hooked on junk food. She's hooked on a bad sugar carb habit, and she's conditioned in that way. So we're deconditioning her slowly and steadily. I asked her to write her sexual autobiography. You know what that is. Now everything you can remember about your sexual journey partners, good ones, the bad ones, the challenges, the ups, the downs, the breakthroughs, the challenges it's laid out there. So once again, I'm trying to do a blend of diet and inner work with her. Um, it it, it's clear she's responding to this mix. Okay? After two months, changing snacks at work was really hard. So she struggled here in a big way. Um, she let me know that the work culture at the office is pretty, pretty much consistent. That everybody does a lot of junk food. Um, so it's hard for her to resist when everybody else is eating pastries. It's the fun part of the day at work. It's the reward. So I feel for her, you know, like I get it, uh, as best I can. Um, so she was feeling very disappointed in herself that she could not comply very well here. And she did not comply well at all, quite frankly. Um, so Cassie weighs herself now once a week. She was previously weighing herself more. Uh, it's been two months, no weight loss after two months. You know, she told me this and I just have a blank look on my face. You know, just don't say anything. Um, and despite that, she feels better and has more energy and less appetite. So I stay very and hopeful. I, I stay very hopeful. I stay very positive with her. And I let her know after I ask her a few questions just to see what the win is. How you feeling? How's your body? How you feeling in your body? Oh, I have more energy. My appetite's better. Great. You know, sometimes Cassie, it takes a while for our metabolism to adjust to our new habits and to adjust to our new changes. This is simply how life works. You know, you can water a plant and water a plant and water the seed and you don't see anything for a bunch of days and all of a sudden something pops out. So I think there's things going on in your body, but those seeds haven't quite sprouted yet. Um, in the sexual autobiography, the key takeaway she had was she really sees how shy she is and how much she hides her attractions, particularly these days. Um, she's often ashamed when she feels sexually attracted to someone and she does everything she can to conceal it. So if she's sexually attracted to you, you'll never know it. Um, so we had some really good conversations around that. I asked her to try to feel her attractions more and pretend that, pretend that they're perfectly okay. And I asked her to experiment flirting just a little more and see what happens just a little. I said, you're probably a good flirt. And she laughed. 'cause she kind of, she's a social flirt. She doesn't flirt with like a sexual way, but, but she's just, she's got a real, really sweet way about her, um, in bringing people out and making people feel comfortable. Okay, here's month three focus.
Renew your efforts with slow eating. Now I'm changing her dinner. I want a high protein, high fat, low carb dinner. I want her to have a more robust snack in the late afternoon. So dinner is not such a ravenous affair, but a robust snack that is more high in healthy protein, healthy fat, similar to any of the snacks she's eating at the mid-morning. I wanted her to switch to an organic fruit sorbet or organic chocolate for dessert. So at this point, I've asked her to change her entire diet, all meals, all snacks. And that's taken me about two and a half months to get to that place with her. I asked her to walk five days per week. I've avoided exercise and movement until now because she has felt shame here. And I wanted to de-emphasize it. And I, I, I just checked in with her, you know, about walking and she is ready for it. And I suggested that she find a walk buddy. And that actually lit her up a bit. Um, and I wanna still focus on flirting more.
Okay? So at the end of three months, Cassie is finally beginning to slow down consistently with meals. She's clearly less hungry. She's very happy about that. Um, when it comes to healthy snacks at work, she says she's successful about half the time. I'm thrilled about that. She found a walking partner, a friend of hers, and is thrilled, like, absolutely thrilled. Um, she's craving sweet foods less than ever. We've never even used the word craving. She's never used it. But clearly the way she was eating, she was hooked on the sugary stuff. So she said, I'm craving sweet foods less than ever. But I just play that down. Oh my God, you're craving sugar. We have to help. You're craving, craving, craving, craving. No, we, it's just this is, this is happening all easy and natural. She said she's not as hungry at dinner. And I'm saying because that's largely in, largely due to having a late afternoon healthy snack. And she's eating slower. So in this last month, she's lost 12 pounds. Okay? Something's happening now. She lost 12 pounds. She's feeling very hopeful. And she was surprised that she lost 12 pounds because she said she's not eating less food. The truth is she's eating less sugar and carbs. Um, she doesn't think she's eating less food. She might be right. Um, but it's not her experience that she's eating less food. I think she might be though. So either way, she's lost 12 pounds. So the weight loss is now starting to come off after, after two-ish months.
Really? She lost the weight in that last month. Okay, the third month. Okay, so here was the focus for months four and five, greater effort. So continue on with everything. Greater effort at work in terms of snacks. Okay? Um, we're gonna continue to focus on high fat and high protein meals. Continue walking. I brought up the infrared sauna thing. You know, it's not something I felt to ask her to do early on. I explained all the benefits of it. I explained all the details about it, and I suggested she buy one for her home. I said, it's one of the greatest things to kickstart weight loss five times a week, 25 to 30 minutes. Um, in months four and five, our conversation was focused quite a bit on dating and men and relationship. We just opened it up. I just opened it up and I told her I wanted her to focus on living her real life now as opposed to waiting for a future weight loss.
So I don't want you to lose weight. And then talk about relationship. I want you to talk about relationship right now. What do you want? Who do you want? What do you want? What are you interested in? What are your concerns? What are your excitements? What are your desires? What are your fears? How are you gonna meet men? How do you meet men? What's really fascinating to me is Cassie is very surprisingly patient about the weight loss part. She's very trusting. Um, I feel like in many ways I have an ideal client. She's not complained a single time. Um, and the whole two and a half months that she wasn't losing weight. She didn't complain. Literally never said a thing. Um, I like that there's something good about that.
And we are now focusing on your life in the now. Empowering yourself, now being in your feminine, now being real, now being authentic. Now what are your desires now? Who do you want to be? Now, none of this, my life is gonna change when I lose a bunch of weight. No, this is your life. You want to meet a man, you want to be in relationship. Let's talk. Here's some results in months four and five.
Cassie is more focused than ever in terms of feeling like an observer of her process and a participant in her weight loss journey. Her embodiment journey. She's, she's, she used the term observer of her process. I really think she's just getting more conscious because that's the work we're doing together. I'm asking her very deliberate questions. I'm asking her to be aware of herself. I don't think she's had anybody who can call her into greater consciousness. She's the one at work. She's the human resources expert. She's the one solving everybody else's problems, managing their conflicts. They come to her. She's like the corporate psychologist really in a lot of ways. So she's the leader now. She's being led a bit. She's being coached. Every conversation we had about men and dating and relationship are some version of upbeat and energized. We always end up laughing. Uh, and she gets nervous, but she laughs at her nervousness. And she has agreed to put her attention on dating via asking friends to fix her up. We determined that just she's got a big social network. Like use your friends. Like people love her. Like people love this lady. Um, months four than five, she loses about 28 pounds. So she's now lost a total of 40 pounds. Cassie is at about 280 pounds. And I feel like we've turned the corner on her weight loss flow. Like all of a sudden, and this happens sometimes with high weight loss, high weight clients. It, it can take a while. It, it took her a little time
for whatever reason, it doesn't matter. I don't care what the reason is. It's just the reason is the reason is the reason. We don't have to figure it out. It's just that we had to do the right things, make the right dietary shifts. And it takes time. Sometimes it just takes time from metabolism to adjust to all the good things that you do for it. I want you to hear that metabolism can take time to adjust with all the good things we do for it.
You know, I'm actually pleased for her that the weight is coming off slowly because honestly what I've seen over the years is that a slow weight loss. Hmm. It's just sometimes the body moves slow. Slow is good. Slow is good. I'm not saying a fast weight loss is bad, but slow is definitely good. By the way, a friend of hers noticed her weight loss and noticed her whole vibe and attitude and, and wants to join in on the weight loss ride. So she's a good friend and they decide to do the same dietary strategy. So my client is just like telling her, okay, do this, do this. So she now has a girlfriend on the journey with her. That's happened a lot of times when I see clients for weight loss and they start to have a success and their friends notice who wanna lose weight, I always encourage it. So we are now, and, and that just feels auspicious bottom line.
So my friends, let's talk about Cassie and months six through nine. During these next three months, actually more during these next three to four months, um, she actually had a handful of setbacks in terms of binging on carbs at work or actually late at night while home. She doesn't binge. Um, and for whatever reason we couldn't find a reason. Is anything different? No. Does anything happen at work today? No. Anything happened here? No, no, no, no, no, no. Um, so, okay, so we just work with the setback as a setback. Setbacks are always to be expected. They're okay. They're always opportunities to grow. Your setback is your opportunity to stand by yourself. You don't have to figure it out. If it's obvious, great. If it's not obvious, great. All it is is oftentimes things happen. A storm happens, things break. Every human, every creature in nature has taken steps forward and steps back. So the key really became coaching her through these and helping her see that she needed to not punish herself, get down on herself. Then indeed she needed to stand by herself. Um, so that was actually very instructive. It was hard for her because she was truly convinced that these were, um, a black mark against her, when really what they are is an opportunity to befriend yourself like never before. Uh, during this time, she's also really enjoying the weight loss journey with her friend. Um, she mentions her friend really just about every session, about how they're supporting one another. I think, um, this was something she really needed that neither of us knew she really needed. During this chunk of time, she lost almost 60 pounds and she's down to 218 pounds during this time as well. She got fixed up with a man who really likes her and they've been dating for about a month. Um, we spent a lot of time also talking about what she's going through with him. He has zero as as in zero issue with her weight. Um, he's a bit overweight himself. Um, and she was usually surprised. She just like couldn't believe it. Um, he wants to lose about 40 pounds and is very curious about her diet because he sees her losing some weight. So she's in a whole new universe. She's absolutely shocked that she's with a man who doesn't care about her. Like it's literally nothing for him. Um, and if anything, he's inspired by what she's doing. Gotta love it. So months 10 and 11, she loses about another 23 pounds and stabilizes at 1 95. So Cassie has now lost about 125 pounds in less than a year. Um, this is the first time I've seen her get disappointed as she has stopped losing weight. She's plateaued even though she's continuing all her good habits. So whenever you hit a plateau, my friends take advantage of it. Great. We hit a plateau. I want you to relax here for a while. I want you to go with this experience. I don't want you to fight it. There's nothing wrong. You body has wisdom. Your body needs to hang here. You and I can't tell your body what to do. We can work with the body in the most natural ways that we can, the most wise ways that we can. And then the body will tell us what it needs. Your body needs to hang here. Why? Why does it want to hang at 1 95 and not 1 65 or 55 or 1 25? Nobody knows it's a mystery. So I suggested to her that, hey, you know, maybe life is asking you to inhabit this new body for a while. Let's just enjoy it, occupy it, love it, care for it, and fully embrace it. So I asked her to take the next two months off from the need to lose weight. But stay on your lifestyle and your diet. Don't change anything. Just change your need to lose more weight. And once again, I explained, you are no longer on a diet. You're a different human being and you're eating and living differently than before. This is the new you, like right here, this body that weighs 195 pounds. That's that's staying here. Love this body. 'cause if you can't love this body, you're not gonna be able to love the next body that you're wanting to have. This is a hard conversation for her. She, this was hard. This was hard. And she got the wisdom in it. We also agreed that we wouldn't meet during this time. I said, I didn't wanna meet you during this time. I don't wanna see you. I want you to just live your life. I want you to focus on your relationship. I want you to just continue all the great things that you're doing and, you know, we'll reconvene in a couple months maybe, but in the meantime, you're learning to love and enjoy this new body. And we can look at picking up weight loss at another time. But let's just follow the wisdom of your body. She lost 125 pounds. Okay? Here's the final work. Um, after two months, she gained 10, 10 more pounds. Uh, was extremely upset. She called me up. So we started meeting again. Um, getting above 200, like that 200 point going above it. What was that number for her was devastating. Oh, my friends, we put so much, so much religion, so much bad religion into numbers like 190 pounds. She wasn't devastated. She was upset that she wasn't losing more, gaining that 10 pounds was literal devastation. Um, and we determined that she got sloppy at work for a few weeks with pastries and sugar. And she was drinking a little bit more alcohol. She, she cut loose a little bit with her, with her, with her new guy. Um, what triggered her, neither of us could figure it out again. I asked her, Hey, learn to forgive yourself. Stand by yourself. We also made one connection that her childhood was so much about her parents pulling away their love. Whenever she was not being literally religious enough, or if she would do anything academically or music wise or socially that they disagreed with, they would literally pull away love. Um, I pointed out to her this was a bitter complaint that she has about her C child. I pointed out that you abandon yourself when you disappoint yourself. You are doing the same thing to yourself that you said your parents did to you. Are you aware of that? So this was one of those aha moments that was a big insight. You can feel the lights come on
in the next three months. She lost about 24 pounds and once again, stabilized, plateaued at about 181 pounds. So she was now approximately 25 pounds short of her ultimate goal. And at this point, I felt that the work was done. I felt that this is where her body needed to hang for a while. And I said, you know, feel free to call me in the future, but I don't, I I really want her to graduate. I, my deepest sense was, I don't wanna push your body anymore or push you to push your body. There's nothing I wanna do different with her. Like literally there's nothing I wanna do different. I just want you to continue what you're doing and live your life and your body just might shift at some point when it's ready.
But she's had a profound weight loss and she looks wonderful. And she was on board. She was on board really with getting that, okay, our work is complete for now. Um, and she was still wanting to lose more weight, which is totally fine. I understand it. And I really need her to
just jump outta the nest, fly out the nest. Live your life. Um, by the way, Cassie has been getting inundated with positive regard at work about how she looks. Um, so she's getting just a ton of love there. She was a more confident woman by the time we finished. Far more radiant, like I said, still worried about getting the weight back, um, but also very pleased with her new body. Um, so she's not fully confident, but she was, she wasn't, she was still more confident as a person, but not just because she lost weight. Her journey gave her confidence. My friends, it's not the destination. Oh, I lost all this weight, now I'm more confident. No, she was standing by herself. She did some work. She took some risks with people. She took some risk in terms of getting out there and dating and meeting a guy and kind of hit the jackpot really quick. Um, she was way more embodied, way more in her body. And she did the work to get there. She did inner work and she did the work of shifting her dietary habits. You know, I, it's, I I I realized at the end of my work with this client that I, I took her for granted just a little bit because she was eating so much junk food, um, at work that I'm like, it is easy. Like, don't eat this junk food. You're, you're gonna be doing so great. You're gonna lose weight. And you know, some things are easy for us and some things are not so easy for us. And, and it's, it's just, that's her little achilles heel. She gets pulled into the underworld of pastries and sugar and there it is. And to me, you know, she needed a lot of handholding. She needed somebody who was emotionally tracking her. So in a way I was helping reparent her. I was being a better parent to her than her parents were able to be. But quite frankly, it's easy for me to be a better parent because I'm not her actual parent. And she's seen me once a week and she's paying me and she's an adult and she's willing to do the work. So by giving her good parenting and, and just tracking her, like how are you doing? What's going on? Tracking her emotions, tracking her challenges, tracking her successes, just tracking her, watching her being present for her. That's what helped not just eat this, don't eat that, do this, don't do that if you follow me. So once again, success. And I hope you can see that once again, there was some ups and downs and no client is ever perfect and we didn't hit her target weight and she had some disappointment and there's learning and lesson and wisdom in that. So I felt very good about myself.
Some final thoughts, my friends on the larger weight loss client. You gotta be patient. You gotta stay positive as a practitioner, no matter what, I don't care how resistant their body is, how long it takes them to have weight loss or no weight loss or some weight loss. You must stay positive. You must be willing to take baby steps. You must remember that embodiment for your client is 1000% key. And you gotta be uniquely creative with each client, my friend. See who your client is. Yeah, you have certain tools that you can use for all different kinds of clients and you have to figure out how to get uniquely creative
when the situation calls for it. Embrace plateaus, embrace them, love them. Celebrate them. Do the opposite of what your client is doing. Your client is hating the plateaus. I love the plateaus. I give them no room. Meaning my client, I give them no room for plateau hate metabolic Kickstarters. Remember those sauna and high fat, high protein diet. Go back to the slide where we did the metabolic Kickstarters. Um, I'm always wondering to myself, are there any big life changes that wanna happen with this client? But honestly, that's the same for any weight loss client. What are the outer changes? What are the interchanges that want to happen? And that's what I was doing with both Cassie and Arthur. And as always, you're celebrating all the successes along the way, even when your client is not, I celebrate it for them right in front of them.
Modeling for them the behavior that I wish for them to have. Well, this conversation was helpful for you, my friends. Next up we will be talking about conscious relationship. What a good thing. We're so lucky to be doing this together and we're coming into the home stretch pretty soon. I really appreciate you as always, and your efforts, and I'll shortly see you on the other side.
