WELCOME TO THE
Peer Coaching Program
Program Overview
As a student in the Mind Body Eating Coach Certification Training, you have the option to participate in our peer coaching program.
Please note: this is a completely optional program – you are not required to participate. However, we highly recommend it!
Below you’ll find key information about the program and how it works. You’ll also find suggested questions for each module below, which you can skip to by clicking the link below.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Peer Coaching Program is available to you wherever you are in the world, allowing you to learn alongside a fellow student colleague. This person, aka your “peer coach,” will be someone you can regularly touch base with and practice what you’re learning.
- Deepen what you’re learning.
- Practice your new eating psychology and coaching skills.
- Find meaningful connection and shared reflection time as you explore the principles we teach in our certification training.
- Explore your own relationship with food in a shared space.
This is a self-study program, which means that we’ll offer guidance and support along the way – but you and your peer coach will decide how you want to structure your sessions, and how frequently you’d like to meet.
For this final term of the Training, we will NOT be matching you with a peer coach. To be matched with a student colleague, we recommend you reach out in our private online support group, introduce yourself, and let everyone know you’re looking for a match in your approximate time zone. You are also welcome to form a group of 3 or 4 peer coaches, if you prefer.
Alternatively, you can explore many of the peer coaching resources with a loved one – or on your own!
Our peer coaching questions and exercises are powerful, and we would love you to benefit from this additional resource.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
Every module, you’ll be guided through a series of peer coaching questions, which you can find below.
We suggest you and your peer coach explore as many of the questions as you have time for. These questions are largely oriented around deepening your understanding of the material and how to apply it with clients.
As the Training unfolds, you’ll also find that you’re increasingly better equipped to do practice coaching with each other.
Every peer coaching relationship is different from the next, and the beauty of our peer coaching program is you are not required to adhere to rigid instructions. We provide guidance for you in each module, but how you decide to work with and learn from your peer coach is up to the two of you!
SUGGESTIONS FOR WORKING WITH YOUR PEER COACH
Once you you have found your peer coach match, we suggest you:
- Reach out to introduce yourself, and schedule an initial meeting to get to know each other a bit.
- Then, establish a monthly meeting schedule with each other. We suggest you meet once per month for 1 hour, though you may prefer twice per month to get more out of the experience. Either way, discuss which days and times would work the best for you both. Ideally, set a schedule together and put it on the calendar!
- Meeting via video chat, such as Zoom, is best for setting rapport with each other – but you can of course meet by phone, if you prefer. Again, discuss this with your peer coach.
- During each meeting, spend a few minutes saying hello and catching up – and then dive into the peer coaching questions!
- We encourage you to invent your own flow for each session. Consider questions outside of those we provide, update each other on your learning experience, your process, your insights, your wonderings, and more.
- Recognize that you may come from very different backgrounds, and that’s OK! It can actually make the experience even richer – so enjoy getting to know each other and seeing things through different perspectives.
